At 4 months old Ellie was diagnosed with Desmoplastic Infantile Ganglioglioma/Astrocytoma. Her diagnosis has resulted in chemo, radiation and 17 surgeries. Ellie is currently 3 years old and doesn’t know much outside of life without cancer.
Talk It Up TV decided it was only fair to give this little doll a gift of kindness. Host, Anny Havland, and guest Jessica Brearley surprise sweet Ellie with a day full of “just being a kid.” Please join us as we take Ellie to Wonderland.

Ellie is a very special little girl, but the reason may surprise you. At 4 months old Ellie was diagnosed with Desmoplastic Infantile Ganglioglioma/Astrocytoma. Her diagnosis has resulted in chemo, radiation and 17 surgeries.

Ellie taught me something, she taught me that she is not her diagnosis! Ellie is Ellie, a little girl obsessed with Frozen, tea parties, shoes and pretending to be a tiger. Ellie is a little girl who wants to feel special, not because she has cancer but because she is three.

It is clear Ellie’s situation is unique and her ability to overcome hardship makes her very special… but after meeting her I witnessed something beyond special, I witnessed an eye opening, beautiful lesson. As you can see from Ellie’s photo she looks different than most little girls, but after meeting Ellie and seeing more than just her physical differences I saw something special about her. I saw a three year old and all the glory that comes with being three. I watched her giggle, I watched her roar like a tiger, I watched her parent’s parent like they would any three year old. I watched her twirl, and point out all the animals in her favorite book. I guess my point is.. Ellie is special because she is an adorable three year old and that is exactly what she deserves to be, a kid.
